Hello and welcome! My vision for this website is to have a place to foster hope, open expression and healing. I hope you find what you need here! Should you have questions regarding the information on this site, please contact me by telephone (541-490-5790).
For those of you that have not met me, let me tell you a little about me and my practice. I recently opened my office in Hermiston in March of 2018. Prior to this, I was in private practice in Hood River, Oregon. My philosophy and approach are based in Family Systems because we all come from families, some healthy and some not so much. The theory I adhere most to is Murray Bowen’s.
Bowen family systems theory is a theory of human behavior that views the family as an emotional unit and uses systems thinking to describe the complex interactions in the unit. It is the nature of a family that its members are intensely connected emotionally.
I try to accommodate my clients working schedules by being available for appointments on Tuesdays through Saturdays and having evening appointments available.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. After obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree, I went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. I earned both of these degrees during my educational experience at California State University, Bakersfield in California.
My work experience in the Mental Health Field includes: Case Management, inpatient mental health services, court ordered parenting groups, working in a prison setting, developing a mobile crisis team, being certified to complete commitment investigations (in Oregon), crisis services, outpatient mental health services, and private practice since 2015.
My opinion is most, if not all, people have some form of trauma in their lives and so my focus, in the last 10 years, has been around trauma and how the brain responds to trauma. I utilize different treatment methods to work with trauma and the brain including EMDR, Bibliotherapy, Psychoeducation and various relaxation and coping skills, just to name a few.
I also work with anxiety, depression, anger problems, relationship issues, parenting issues, developmental and grief issues, and a variety of other issues.
I am deeply committed to my work in this field and the people I work with in fostering the achievement of treatment goals. We all deserve a happy life!
Thank you for taking the time to read through this information. I welcome your thoughts and questions!
"You have inherited a lifetime of tribulation. Everybody has inherited it. Take it over, make the most of it and when you have decided you know the right way, do the best you can with it." ~ Murray Bowen
